Behind-the-scenes analysis of the 2022 New Year's Eve Light Show in Belgrade, Serbia: 2 months of preparation, 2 thorough on-site inspections, 18 technicians, 6 assemblers, 56 high-power full-color laser lights, 24 moving head beam lights , several kilometers of wiring

In famous metropolises, New Year's celebrations are often grandiose, and some are even more unique. But many countries and cities have canceled New Year's celebrations due to ongoing restrictions due to the pandemic. Fortunately for Serbia's capital Belgrade, the situation is very different.
Kurata is an unfinished modern high-rise building located in the CBD area of the city - the Sava River on the Belgrade waterfront. With a height of 168 meters and over 42 floors, it is likely to be the tallest building in the area.

We at KVANT Cowant Laser have teamed up with our renowned Serbian partner SkyMusic Production and the top fireworks company Fireworks by Grucci from the USA to put together an amazing multimedia show and a massive fireworks display to dominate .
The hardest part of the operation was fitting all the equipment onto the tower's facade, which is still a work in progress with several teams of workers present. Within ten days, Spider-Man installed dozens of specially manufactured and structurally certified accessory brackets, and then attached all of the lighting fixtures to those brackets. At this stage, we test all devices and connections for functionality and water resistance. At the same time, technicians are preparing the laser display projector and moving the head, and lowering them on ropes in a special protective cover until the desired position.

The rest of the team prepared all signal and power wiring in the building. Finally, we ran two 600-meter long main signal optical cable lines to the central control room. All of this is happening with 500 builders working on-site, while construction is in full swing, in all weather conditions and under strict health and safety regulations. We used 56 KVANT Spectrum and Atom full color laser systems with optical power outputs up to 30 watts to achieve the desired effect. Additionally, KVANT's technicians have equipped each laser projector with a rain cover to protect the device from rain, snow, frost and firework residue.

Finally, after acclimation, we tested each system multiple times and fine-tuned its output for optimal performance. Not only is this crucial for the New Year, but also the six weeks into 2022. During these six weeks, several different projections and shows took place, each following a different theme. Our video developers customized everything to be perfect for the permanently installed screens on the facades of both towers. But of course nothing will be seen by the public until the event starts. So we did all the zoning, testing and display tweaks overnight at strictly set times.
Also, due to the proximity of the town's international airport, lighting, mainly lasers, had to be 100% safe.

The show itself and its elements, including lasers, lighting, fireworks, video and sound, are time-encoded so there is no room for human error in the synchronization.
The show is broadcast live by several Serbian TV stations and screened on three big stages in the city. After the show, lasers, moving lights, and some video content continued into the night, drawing attention to distant landmarks.
